Saint-Martin at the 17th Travel and Holiday consumer Show in Martinique

Saint Martin was the guest of honor at the 17th edition of the Travel and Holiday consumer show (Salon du Voyage et des Vacances) from the 6th to the 8th of March 2015 in Martinique. Over a hundred Tourism professionals, travel agencies, tour operators and airline companies gathered at the Palais des Congrès de Madiana (Congress center).

The delegation consisted of the Saint-Martin Tourism Office represented by Grégoire Dumel, local and regional market manager and Malaïka Maxwell who is in charge of local and regional press and communication along with Josiane Davoren of the Beach Plaza Hotel. The Sint Maarten Tourism Bureau represented by Betty Jean-Baptiste, Caribbean market manager, with several hotels of the Dutch namely Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino, Divi Little Bay Resort, Holland Beach Hotel and Esperance Hotel shared the booth.

«70% of what Martinique’s travel agencies offer are hotels on the French side. Saint Martin is a popular destination in Martinique. Nayaradou Voyages, Foyal Tours, Selectour Richard Fléchon voyages & AVS voyages are agencies that offer very interesting deals throughout the year. » M. Dumel said.

« We met many repeat customers who have been going to Saint Martin at least once or twice a year for several years. These are customers who have developed their own habits; they have their favorite restaurant, their favorite beach. The privileged relationship we have with travel agents on this market is bearing its fruit. We also noticed that many customers who first discovered St Martin on a cruise wish or are planning to return to spend more time on the island.» Mrs. Maxwell said.

During the three days, visitors were able to discover or rediscover Saint Martin, its culture and gastronomy with the tasting of Journey Cakes prepared by two students from Saint Martin who are studying in Martinique, Kimberly Marie-Joseph and Stephanie Gumbs.

At the opening ceremony attended by Mrs. Karine Roy-Camille, Martinique’s Minister of Tourism and Miss Raika Hazanavicius, Junior Minister of Tourism, Miss Shiba Bouaille Communication Officer at Open Soft System particularly thanked Saint-Martin for its loyalty since the launch of the show and announced that Saint-Martin will again be guest of honor next year.
