The St Martin Tourist Office at the CTO State of the Industry 2013 in Martinique

CTO State of the Industry – Perfecting the experience, delivering authenticity, Palais des Congrès de Madiana, Martinique October 16th to 18th 2013.

cto martinique 2013The 3rd CTO State of the Industry Conference taking place in Martinique at the Palais des Congrès de Madiana opened its doors on the 16th of October and will end on the 18th.

The CTO State of the Industry Conference is CTO’s annual convocation where Caribbean tourism practitioners, policy makers and strategic partners, at the highest levels, gather to discuss issues, identify solutions and generally develop courses of action that will benefit the tourism industry in the Caribbean.

cto martinique 2013 1Speakers of international acclaim will provide best case practices and winning strategies on a wide range of topics that are critical to the growth of regional tourism, all with a view toward the development of a sustainable tourism industry, that will position the Caribbean as the most desirable, year-round warm weather destination by 2017.

The Junior Ministers of CTO member countries will make their contributions to the discussions at the Youth Congress. Adrianna Sylvestre the Junior Minister of Tourism of Saint-Martin will represent St Martin, she is accompagnied by Misses Connor, Hazel and Pilier-Reyes.

cto martinique 2013 2On the first day the Press was treated to a presentation of the host country Martinique as well as a presentation of Anguilla by Mrs. Candis Niles, Director of Tourism of Anguilla.

Several meetings and workshops were held for Directors and Ministers of Tourism allowing great networking opportunities.

The Junior Ministers of Tourism were also formally presented and shared with their colleagues during the Youth Congress orientation chaired by Bonita Morgan of CTO.

The official kick-off was given at the opening of the conference with the traditional flag bearing ceremony.

Traditional songs and dances left room for welcome speeches by Karine Roy-Camille, President of the Tourist Office of Martinique, Beverly Nicholson-Doty Minister of Tourism U.S. Virgin Islands and Chairman of the CTO, and Serge Letchimy President of the Regional Council of Martinique.

As a reminder the 1st State of the Industry Conference was held and hosted by French St Martin in September 2011.
