For many years now, fishermen and chefs get together in Cul-de-Sac for Fish Day. Usually celebrated on May 1st for Labor day, the Fish day will be held this year on May 6th.
The main festivities take place around the Cul de Sac jetty ferry. There is a wonderful display of stands to present all the species of fish found in our seas and other stands for tasting.
Fish is honored for the whole day in a convivial and festive atmosphere punctuated by musical and dance performances.
The French Saint-Martin Tourist Office took advantage of the very popular event to begin discussing of a possible collaboration with JetBlue.
JetBlue started operating in 2008 with its first flight between JFK in New York and Saint-Martin daily, then launched a flight between Boston and Saint-Martin once a week. In November 2011, the airline began its daily non-stop flight to Porto Rico after American Eagle dropped the route earlier that year.
The French Saint-Martin Tourist Office which hopes to develop the regional market invited JetBlue to share a booth at Fish Day giving them the opportunity to distribute their brochures during the evnt which draws 10,000 to 15,000 people. This is a great opportunity for JetBlue and the Puerto Rico Tourism Board who will also be attending to promote the flight between Saint-Martin and Puerto Rico to our local population.
Silviane John, Director of the French Saint-Martin Tourist Office says that she hopes : “This is the prologue of a possible collaboration between JetBlue and the Saint-Martin Tourist Office, which will lead in the coming weeks to discussions for the signing of a partnership agreement that will include tradeshows, press trips, familiarization trips for travel agents and tour operators”.
JetBlue will offer many tickets St. Maarten / Puerto Rico for the Fish Day!
Do not miss this day firmly focused on the love of the sea!
